VIB (center of excellence in life science) - Flanders

Created in Belgium in 1995 at the initiative of the Flemish government, VIB (Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie) is a unique example of a non-profit support structure working towards both excellence in research and transformation of the results of such research into economic growth. VIB is designed around a unique concept of close collaboration with and between the four Flemish universities of Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp and Brussels. Together with these universities, VIB employs more than 1,300 scientists and technologists in 76 research groups.
